After three decades of classical realism, Dindarova turns the discipline inward. The draughtsmanship remains, but the subject is no longer the scene — it is the light that makes the scene possible. Each canvas is built in the Flemish manner, eight to twelve transparent oil glazes laid over a monochrome underpainting, so that colour is not applied to the surface but accumulated beneath it.
The cycle takes its structure from her synaesthetic reading of music: passages of tone answered by passages of pigment, resolved rather than composed. What emerges is a body of work concerned with primordial light — the first condition of form, and the point to which the painter returns.
